Toronto, Ontario
A house built on a single, stubborn berry.
Orlune began in 2020, in a sunlit kitchen on the west end of Toronto, with a single press of sea buckthorn berries from a small Ontario farm. The first batch was sticky, golden, and entirely too pungent. The twenty-second was the formula we still use today.
We are still small. We still make everything in Ontario. And we still believe that a great formula begins with knowing the difference between the seed and the pulp.
A point of expertise
Seed oil vs. pulp oil.
01
Seed oil
Cold-pressed from the small inner seed. Pale gold. Rich in omega-3 and omega-6. The lipid backbone of every Orlune formula.
02
Pulp oil
Pressed from the fleshy berry. Deep amber-orange. The home of omega-7 and the carotenoids that give Orlune its signature colour.
"Most brands use one. We blend both — at a ratio we revisit every harvest."
